The newest attraction to the Lake Erie Shore of Pennsylvania is the Erie Maritime Museum. It is the cornerstone of Erie's revitalized bayfront and the port for the restored ship, U.S. Brig Niagara. This ship is the tallest of the ships built during the War of 1812 on Lake Erie. Hundreds of miles of inland waterways and Lake Erie make boating another popular attraction. Rowing, water skiing, sailing and fishing. Twenty species of fish await you including muskie, walleye, salmon, bass and trout. If you would rather hike or bike then check out the six-mile portion of the Seaway trail that follows the shoreline of Lake Erie. The newest trail is the Allegheny River Trail near the town of Franklin. Don't forget the 9.5 mile trail through the scenic Oil Creek Gorge. This is one of the historical sites you won't want to miss. Ride the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad or check out the Drake Well Museum. The Titusville Oil Festival runs late summer and early fall every year. The Erie National Wildlife Refuge east of Meadville attracts more than 237 species of birds, from waterfowl to balk eagles. Bring your binoculars. So if you want boating, fishing, festivals, concerts, history, sports, shopping, fine dining and lodging the Lake Erie Shore of Pennsylvania is the place for you.
