Pennsylvania has shoreline on both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The shores are turning into resort areas to offer fishing, camping, skiing and hiking. More than half the state is covered in forest, making for great wildlife and wilderness. Numerous state and national parks are located on lakes and rivers in the Northern area with mountains great for many activities. In the winter western Pennsylvania tends to get a great deal of snow, which makes for skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing on the inland lakes. Pennsylvania tends to be cloudy most of the time, with few completely clear days.
Pennsylvania Recreation
Pennsylvania features the best of both worlds, with wilderness or city life. The northern half of the state features great hiking, camping and mountain biking in the summer and skiing, snowmobiling and sledding. If you like the city life Buffalo, Rochester and the Niagara Region offer lodging, fine dining, shopping and numerous entertainment venues. Along the lake shore there is fishing, boating, sailing and swimming along the beaches.
