Georgian Bay is known as the playground of Ontario with some of the finest of Ontario's 250,000 lakes. In the summer you will find miles of golden beaches, clear lakes and lush forests set in the granite of the Precambrian Shield. You can swim in the lakes, scuba dive among the shipwrecks of Georgian bay, or golf on many of the region's golf courses.

In the winter, the region becomes a frosty paradise that hosts some of the best alpine skiing in Southern Ontario. Thousands of kilometres of cross-country ski and snowmobile trails tour alongside towering cliffs, shorelines, forests and swamps. Spectacular scenery, exciting activities, and the exploration of early Ontario history in Huronia, make the Georgian Bay region a diverse and attractive Ontario playground.

Georgian Bay Ontario Recreation

You can dive deep at Fathom Five, Canada's first underwater National Marine Park. Tour the 30,000 Islands, the largest concentration of islands in the world, then bask in the sun on the sandy beaches of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. Take a swing at Golf or tennis or hike the limestone cliffs along the Bruce Trail, Ontario's oldest and longest trekking route, then explore Collingwood's ancient caves. Take a cruise on the world's only original steamship, the R.M.S. Segwun. Tread back through time at Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons, a genuine reconstruction of an actual Jesuit Mission, and enjoy nightlife at Casino Rama. If you love opera visit Orillia's Opera House and the Gravenhurst Opera House & Arts Centre.
