When talking about this region of New York State you have to start with the falls, but it definitely doesn't end there. Standing at the falls you will find yourself awed by one of earth's most amazing sights. Rainbows and the sound of roaring thunder are just some of the sights and sounds of the falls. If you do go to the falls remember your camera. Another incredible area is Letchworth State Park, known as the "Grand Canyon of the East." Inside the park is the 17-mile Genesee River Gorge. Here you can enjoy camping, hiking and picnicking and enjoy nature at its finest. If you love wildlife check out the Institute for Environmental Learning in Lyndonvile. Here you can visit the only socialized wolfpack in the eastern U.S., bald eagles or cougars. If the big city is calling then you can visit Buffalo, the region's largest city. You will find museums, culture, fine dining, pro sports and fine lodging. For fans of art go to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. It is recognized as one of the nation's finest museums for modern art. Picasso, Monet and Renoir are just a few of the artist you find here. Other areas of interest include: Artpark, in the town of Lewiston, the only state park in U.S. dedicated to the visual and performing arts; the Cobblestone Society Museum in Childs; and Old Fort Niagara on the shore of Lake Ontario and the Niagara River.
