You can visit historic lighthouses that marked the way along Lake Ontario at Oswego, Port Ontario, Sackets Harbor, Cape Vincent and Ogdensburg. Historic battles took place at Fort Ontario, Little Sandy, Sackets Harbor and Ogdensburg. Don't forget to check out the Eisenhower Lock and Erie Canal to watch giant great lakes vessels pass through. Another great monument is Boldt Castle, a tribute to our past. You can follow the Seaway Trail scenic byway that runs parallel to the Great Lakes Shoreline. You will find some of the best accomodations and campgrounds as well as State Parks. You can visit the Corning Glass Center and explore 3,500 years of glassmaking. The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse, and the Sciencenter in Ithaca, offer many exhibits for adults and children alike. The International Museum of Photography in Rochester shows off more than a half-million prints. The Finger Lakes region features Ithaca, the City of Waterfalls, dozens are right in the city and hundreds more are within miles. Visit the Taughannock Falls State Park where the highest straight drop east of the Rockies is located. Taughannock Falls drops 215 feet into a ampitheater, of which the walls extend 400 feet.
