Chicago, Illinois
|
Chicago is known as the windy city, and a visit there will explain why. The wind comes off Lake Michigan and seems to funnel down the long streets of Chicago. During the summer the temperatures climb into the 80's and 90's regularly, making the air conditioned museums and stores very welcoming. Even though Chicago is a large city, most attractions are within walking distance of the train station. During the winter the cold winds and snow make this walk more on the unpleasant side, although still possible.

Shopping, sightseeing and nightlife are what attracts tourists to the windy city. The Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium and Chicago Art Museum are some of the most visited places in the area. You will find numerous places to shop around the downtown area. For night life check out Michael Jordan's, the Berghoff, or Navy Pier. The Chicago Yacht Club is host to the annual Chicago to Mackinac Island Yacht Race. The race takes place in mid July.
